26th Annual Health Classic Seminar

Join Dr. Lawrence Kushi, Dr. Terry Shintani, Dr. Gordon Saxe, Dr. Dale Figtree, Warren Kramer, Bob and Melanie Sachs, and many other health and environmental teachers for the 2016 Health Classic at the La Casa De Maria Retreat Center in Santa Barbara, California. Choose from over forty health, lifestyle, nutrition, cooking and exercise workshops and classes while enjoying the Health Classic's gourmet, organic, vegetarian cuisine in California's premier coastal town.

Join Dr. Lawrence Kushi, a nutritional epidemiologist, who has been involved in many studies on the role of diet in cancer. He is the Principal Investigator of a large study funded by the National Cancer Institute that examines the role of diet, use of alternative therapies and other factors in breast cancer recurrence and survival. Dr. Kushi is also the son of Michio and Aveline Kushi, who were two of the leading proponents of macrobiotics. His presentation will focus on the seemingly contradictory, but actually complementary nature of what we know about food, nutrition and cancer from these perspectives.

is a professor and Associate Chair of the Department of Complementary Medicine at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine. He is also President and Co-Founder of the Hawaii Health Foundation, which promotes health through an integration of universal principles embodied in traditional Hawaiian healing principles with modern medical science. Dr. Shintani is the author of several books, including the groundbreaking Hawaii Diet, The Peace Diet, and Eat More, Weigh Less Diet.

is an assistant professor at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine and the Moores UCSD Cancer Center, and the Research Director for UCSD Center for Integrative Medicine. Dr. Saxe is also a clinical researcher who, as the result of his father's illness, developed a deep interest in whether diet and lifestyle changes could be used to prevent or treat cancer. His extensive research has included studies of cancer of the breast, prostate and pancreas and has been supported in part by grants from the NIH and the American Cancer Society. Dr. Saxe has also studied macrobiotics and Chinese medicine. He has a clinical practice in nutrition oncology and preventive medicine in San Diego, California.
